"Indeed, Egyptian children are the country's human capital and investing in them will contribute to a prosperous future for Egypt. The protection and promotion of the rights of the child are a key principle of the European Union. The 'Awladna' campaign reflects the European Union's commitment to the support of Egyptian children. The campaign comes within a broader programme under which the European Union has committed EUR 30 million in grants to support increased access to education and protection of at risk children. We are pleased to work closely with the National Council of Childhood and Motherhood and UNICEF to ensure that Egyptian children grow up in an environment that is conducive to their development and wellbeing", said Reinhold Brender Charge' d'Affaires a.i. of the EU Delegation to Egypt .

ومن جانبه قال السيد رينولد برندر، القائم بأعمال سفير وفد الاتحاد الأوروبي في مصر "مما لا شك فيه أن أطفال مصر هم رأس المال البشري لبلدهم ومن ثم فإن الاستثمار فيهم يساهم في مستقبل مزدهر لمصر. إن حماية الأطفال وتعزيز حقوقهم هو مبدأ رئيسي للاتحاد الأوروبي، وتعكس حملة "أولادنا" التزام الاتحاد الأوروبي بدعم الأطفال المصريين. تأتي هذه الحملة ضمن برنامج أشمل قد خصص له الاتحاد الأوروبي 30 مليون يورو من المنح للمساهمة في الوصول للتعليم وحماية الأطفال في خطر. نحن سعداء للعمل عن كثب مع المجلس القومي للطفولة والأمومة ويونيسف لضمان نمو الأطفال في بيئة مؤاتيه لتنشئتهم ورفاهتهم."

EU Delegation participates in Sierra Leone’s first Girls Empowerment Football Festival and Exhibition

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) in partnership with the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) in Cameroon, African Union (AU), PowerPlay Africa and the Cameroon Football Federation (FECAFOOT) have jointly launched the “Together against the marriage of young girls” campaign towards abandoning child marriages on the continent.

As part of this campaign, PowerPlay Africa held Sierra Leone’s first Girls Empowerment Football Festival and Exhibition on 17 December 2016 at the SLFA headquarters in Freetown. The Delegation of the European Union paritciated in the event with a stand in support of girl's empowerment and prevention of child marriage.

The European Union and Member States –organised with the support of Lao Cycling Association the 2nd Cycling for Climate in Vientiane with more than 400 cyclists including officials, diplomats as well as Vientiane citizens taking part in this social ride to celebrate the 1st Anniversary of the Paris Agreement and the achievements reached since it was adopted on 12 December 2015 at the 21st session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change held in Paris.
