The EU-Cuba Joint Council met for the first time on 15 May 2018. It discussed the implementation of the Political Dialogue and Cooperation Agreement, which has been provisionally applied since November 2017.

The International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia, and Biphobia (IDAHOTB) is commemorated annually on the 17th of May. In 2018, the global theme for IDAHOTB is Alliances for Solidarity. Strong partnerships and collective action are essential to advance human rights based on sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, and sex characteristics. LGBTI communities must also be allies to minorities and take an intersectional approach to all work to ensure no one is left behind.

The EU and the UK clearly share the same interests in terms of security and defence policies, and the EU will seek to set up the necessary mechanisms to work closely together following the UK’s departure from the Union in 2019, High Representative Mogherini and Chief Brexit negotiator Barnier said yesterday at an event on “The future of EU foreign, security and defence policy post-Brexit" organised by the EU Institute for Security Studies(EUISS) in Brussels and moderated by EUISS Director Gustav Lindstrom.

ЕС и Великобритания разделяют общие интересы в области политики безопасности и обороны, и ЕС попытается обеспечить нужные для тесного сотрудничества механизмы после выхода Великобритании из Европейского Союза в 2019 году, заявили Верховный Представитель ЕС Федерика Могерини и главный переговорщик по Брекзиту Мишель Барнье, выступая вчера на заседании «Будущее внешней и оборонной политики, а также вопросов безопасности в ЕС после Брекзита». Это мероприятие было организовано Институтом Европейского Союза по изучению вопросов безопасности (EUISS) в Брюсселе. Модератором дискуссии выступил директор EUISS Густав Линдстром.
