This week the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini paid her first official visit to Asia. She travelled to the Republic of Korea and the People's Republic of China with the aim of strengthening ties with two of the EU's strategic partners in the region.
The event marks the anniversary of the day in 1950 when Robert Schuman, one of the founders of the EU, made his 'Schuman Declaration', outlining a vision to unite separate European states into a single community.

Elle s’est rendue en République de Corée et en République populaire de Chine, en vue de renforcer les liens avec ces partenaires stratégiques de l’UE dans la région.
"We are deeply saddened by the news that a helicopter of the Pakistani army carrying foreign diplomats crashed upon landing this morning in Gilgit-Baltistan, Pakistan. According to information received from the Pakistani Army, four foreigners and two Pakistani citizens were killed, among them the Ambassadors of Norway and the Philippines and the wives of the Indonesian and Malaysian ambassadors. We extend our profound condolences to the families and loved ones of the victims and wish prompt recovery to those injured in the crash.”
On the occasion of celebrating the 40th anniversary of the EU-China diplomatic relations, the 2nd GRAIN2 Open Workshop and Mid-term Review 'Greening Aviation – A Global Challenge' was successfully held in Xi`an City, China, from 5 to 8 May 2015. GRAIN 2, Greener Aeronautics International Networking – 2, is a project jointly supported by the EU's 7th Framework Programme for Research and Innovation (FP7) and China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT).
