This project supports the justice system actors in strengthening knowledge-based policies by establishing a reliable system to analyse baseline and postline data about justice needs of the Armenian citizens, their experiences and demands for improvements in justice and to assist the government to fulfill their obligations under the Convention against Torture.

This project will strengthen the independence and professionalism of the Armenian justice system and facilitate institutional and legislative reforms of the Armenian judiciary, including substantive and procedural law, ethical framework, conduct and disciplinary measures are in line with European standards and in a more consultative manner.

The project aims at contributing to the development of a more independent, transparent, accountable, accessible and efficient judicial system, in line with the ''2012-2016 Strategic Programme for Legal and Judicial Reforms'', including promoting an independent, transparent and accountable Justice Sector; efficient and accessible justice; revision of the criminal code and alternative punishment system, quality services to the public and penitentiary reform.

Federica Mogherini, the High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy/Vice-President of the European Commission, met the Foreign Minister of the Republic of Korea, Yun Byung-se, yesterday in the margins of the Brussels Conference on Afghanistan.

The overall objective of this programme is to contribute to the development of a more independent, transparent, accountable, accessible and efficient judicial system, in line with the ''2012-2016 Strategic Programme for Legal and Judicial Reforms''. 12 court buildings across Armenia were constructed/ renovated during phase I of the project.

Georgian civil society organizations unveiled the results of election media monitoring at a press conference on October 6, 2016. Supported by the European Union and United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), media monitoring examines media performance during the 2016 Parliamentary elections in Georgia and covers forty-six national and local media outlets – televisions, radio, print and online media.

The third, and last, in a series of workshops focused on the development of a Lao PDR CBRN

National Action Plan (NAP) is being held from 5-7 October 2016 in Vientiane. The three-day workshop, which represents one of the NAP final steps, is part of the European Union (EU)

Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN) Risk Mitigation Centres of Excellence Initiative and gathered together representatives from governmental entities, as well as representatives from the European Union and the United Nations.

On Thursday 6 October the Minister of Basic Education, Mrs Angie Motshekga, together with European Union Ambassador Marcus Cornaro will launch four EU grant-funded projects that are aimed at improving teaching and learning in the areas of Early Childhood Development (ECD), Inclusive Education (IE) and Special Education Needs (SEN).
