The European Union deployed an Election Observation Mission (EU EOM) to observe the 17 August 2015 Parliamentary Elections. It was the largest international election observation mission in Sri Lanka, with 85 observers — from all 28 EU member states, plus Switzerland and Norway — including a delegation of six members of the European Parliament.

Delivering on the European Agenda on Migration from May, the European Commission is putting forward a comprehensive package of proposals which will help address the refugee crisis that EU Member States and neighbouring countries are facing, including tackling the root causes making people seek refuge in Europe. The new set of measures will alleviate pressure from Member States most affected – notably Greece, Italy and Hungary – by proposing to relocate 120,000 people in clear need of international protection to other EU Member States.


The High Representative Federica Mogherini met yesterday with Jordan Minister of Foreign Affairs Nasser Judeh in the margins of the International Conference on the victims of ethnic and religious violence in the Middle East in Paris. 
They discussed the situation in the region, notably the conflict in Syria and its impact on the condition of millions of people fleeing the country to escape war, violence and persecution.


La haute représentante, Mme Federica Mogherini, a rencontré hier le ministre jordanien des affaires étrangères Nasser Judeh en marge de la Conférence internationale sur les victimes de violences religieuses et ethniques au Moyen-Orient, qui s'est tenue à Paris.

Les discussions ont porté sur la situation dans la région, notamment le conflit en Syrie et ses conséquences à l'égard des millions de personnes fuyant le pays pour échapper à la guerre, aux violences et à la persécution.
