Ladies and Gentlemen,

I would like to thank all the representatives of Australian Departments, federal agencies, and business stakeholders for being here tonight.

I would like to express a warm thanks to the EU MS Ambassadors and military attaches for joining us.

We have gathered a wide and articulated community to welcome Dr Philippe Brunet, the European Commission DG GROW's Director of aerospace, maritime, security and defence industries.

The Delegation of the European Union for the Pacific is pleased to announce the planned visit of the European Investment Bank (EIB) Vice President, Mr. Ambroise Fayolle to Fiji. During his visit it is foreseen that VP Fayolle will meet with Prime Minister Josaia Voreqe Bainimarama as well as Fiji’s Minister for Economy, Public Enterprises, Public Service & Communications, Mr. Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum. Further meetings will be held with European Union Ambassador to Fiji and the Pacific, Andrew Jacobs and other foreign dignitaries to discuss further cooperation, as well as with Development Partners, stakeholders and the Media.

"The European Union is pushing to ensure the sustainable management of oceans and their resources," Ambassador Fabrizi said. "Together with Australia and France we are also proposing to establish the East Antarctica MPA system in the future. The agreement on the MPA in the Ross Sea Region paves the way for the East Antarctic MPA network, and shows our commitment to ensure the sustainable management of oceans and their resources.

Three young Canadian journalists had recently the opportunity to tour EU institutions in Brussels. Exceptionally this year, they also attended a Plenary Session at the European Parliament in Strasbourg, France. Prior to the study tour, the winners were recognized at an awards ceremony jointly organized with the Honourable Geoff Regan, Speaker of the House of Commons, in early October in Ottawa.




The European Union is committed to a stable, democratic and prosperous future of Georgia. We look forward to working with the new, democratically-elected Parliament and Government to deepen our political and economic relations based on the joint commitments of the EU-Georgia Association Agreement


Trois jeunes journalistes canadiens ont eu l'opportunité de visiter les institutions européennes à Bruxelles. Exceptionnellement cette année, ils ont aussi assisté à une séance plénière au Parlement Européen à Strasbourg en France. Avant le voyage, les lauréats ont été honorés lors d'une cérémonie de remise des prix organisée avec l'Honorable Geoff Regan, Président de la Chambre des communes, début octobre à Ottawa.
