The High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy/Vice President of the European Commission, Federica Mogherini, was in Abuja on Saturday, 14 May, to attend the 2nd Regional Security Summit hosted by Nigeria's President Muhammadu Buhari.The Summit was a follow-up to the 2014 Boko Haram Summit, convened in Paris by French President Francois Hollande, who also attended the Abuja Summit.

In the words of Ambassador Zacarias: "It is a way of signalling our commitment towards LGBTI rights. Out of the Group's meeting today came a very strong call to all parties in Syria to come back to the table of negotiations for talks in Geneva in order to to enter into the work on the transition. This, I would say, is the main political outcome of the meeting.
