The trials of Mr. Leopoldo López, national coordinator of the 'Voluntad Popular' party, as well as of the four students Christian Holdack, Marcos Coello, Demian Martín, and Ángel González have failed to provide the defendants with adequate guarantees of transparency and due legal process.

The EU hopes that the avenues available for redress will allow to review these harsh verdicts in a fair and transparent manner.

Le 9 septembre, la Cour suprême de Guinée-Bissau a déclaré inconstitutionnel le décret présidentiel du 20 août portant nomination d'un nouveau Premier ministre,  et le jour même, en accord avec cette décision, le Premier ministre a remis sa démission.



On 9 September the Supreme Court of Guinea Bissau ruled that the Presidential decree of 20 August appointing a new Prime Minister was unconstitutional, and on the same day the Prime Minister resigned, in accordance with this decision.


Commissioner Carlos Moedas Visit to China

Carlos Moedas, European Commissioner for Research, Science and Innovation, visited China from 6 to 11 September 2015. During his first official visit to China, Commissioner Moedas held meetings with high-level officials and key stakeholders in Beijing from 6 to 8 September and co-chaired the Annual Meeting of the New Champions (AMNC - Summer Davos Conference) in Dalian from 9 to 11 September. His visit was accompanied by Jean-Pierre Bourguignon, President of the European Research Council.
