On Thursday and Friday, High Representative/Vice President Federica Mogherini attended a number of high-level events at the World Economic Forum in Davos.

On Thursday, she acted as moderator at the session 'Informal Gathering of World Economic Leaders: Stabilising the Middle East', which looked at how to better coordinate the work of the international community in the region.



The Working Group on Governance, Rule of Law and Human Rights under the European Union-Sri Lanka Joint Commission concluded its first meeting in Colombo on 21 January 2016. The meeting was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Colombo with the participation of senior officials from Sri Lanka and the European Union. The delegation of the European Union was led by Ms. Paola Pampaloni, Head of Division, Asia and the Pacific Department of the European External Action Service. The Sri Lanka delegation was led by Mr. A.L.A.


Le groupe de travail sur la gouvernance, l'État de droit et les droits de l'homme créé dans le cadre de la commission mixte UE-Sri Lanka a achevé sa première réunion à Colombo le 21 janvier 2016. Ont participé à cette réunion, qui s'est déroulée dans les locaux du ministère des affaires étrangères à Colombo, des hauts fonctionnaires du Sri Lanka et de l'Union européenne. High Representative/Vice President Federica Mogherini condemned today’s ‘cowardly’ attack on Bacha Khan University in Pakistan, which came a year after the deadly attack on the Peshawar Army School.

“Another attack against the innocent, the youth and the very future of Pakistan,” she said. “An attack on a place of study is not only cowardly, but it is also an attack on all of us who believe in the power and the importance of education.”

The Dutch Prime Minister says there's six weeks to save European open borders; Federica Mogherini agrees it's in danger, but says it must be saved.

HighRepresentative/Vice-President Federica Mogherini met this evening with Prime Minister of Lebanon, Tammam Salam, at the margins of the World Economic Forum in Davos.

The High Representative and the Prime Minister discussed topics of common concern such as the Syria crisis, the impact of refugees, the fight against terrorism and the tensions in the region. HR/VP Mogherini highlighted the EU long-standing commitment to Lebanon, and the strong determination to further enhance cooperation.
