Today's decision by the so-called Supreme Court of Crimea to prohibit the activities of the Mejlis, a self-governing body of the Crimean Tatars, labelling it "an extremist organisation", represents a grave attack on the rights of the Crimean Tatars as a whole. It constitutes a further very negative escalation in the human rights situation on the Crimean peninsula since its illegal annexation by the Russian Federation in 2014, including as regards the persecution of persons belonging to minorities.

Statement by the Spokesperson on the murder of activists in Bangladesh
 
Yesterday two Bangladeshi LGBTI activists were brutally murdered in a horrifying attack in Dhaka, which also left a policeman and a security guard injured.
 
With the killings of a law student on 6 April and of an English language professor on 23 April, this is already the third violent attack in Bangladesh in less than a month. 
 
We express our deepest condolences to the families of the victims and wish a speedy recovery to the injured. 
 

Déclaration de la porte-parole sur l’assassinat de militants au Bangladesh

Hier, deux militants LGBTI bangladais ont été brutalement assassinés lors d’un terrible attentat à Dacca, par suite duquel un agent de police et un agent de sécurité ont également été blessés.

Après les assassinats d’un étudiant en droit le 6 avril et d’un professeur d’anglais le 23 avril, il s’agit déjà du troisième attentat violent au Bangladesh en moins d’un mois.
