Recent acts of terror committed by Da'esh-affiliated groups in Sirte, including indiscriminate shelling and execution of prisoners, show that extremists are taking advantage of the security vacuum in the country to expand and target Libyan citizens.

Today's criminal bomb attack in a busy part of Bangkok next to an important religious shrine has killed and wounded Thai citizens and visiting tourists.

The EU expresses its sincere condolences to the families of the victims and wishes a speedy recovery to all those wounded. Our thoughts are with the people of Thailand at this time of shock and grief.


«M. Shuja Khanzada, ministre de l’intérieur de la province pakistanaise du Pendjab, a trouvé la mort ainsi que plusieurs autres personnes dans un attentat terroriste perpétré dimanche lors d’un rassemblement politique organisé dans son village natal.

Nous adressons nos sincères condoléances à la famille et aux proches de M. Khanzada et des autres personnes qui ont perdu la vie dans l’attentat ainsi qu’au gouvernement fédéral et provincial. Nous souhaitons par ailleurs un prompt rétablissement à tous les blessés.



"Shuja Khanzada, Home Minister in the Punjab in Pakistan, was killed along with several other people in a terrorist attack on Sunday during a jirga in Mr Khanzada’s home village.

We express our condolences to the family and friends of Mr Khanzada and others who lost their lives in the attack as well as to the Provincial and Federal Government. We also wish a fast recovery to all those injured.

The EU continues to support Pakistan’s efforts to fight terrorism, including by effective enforcement of its ban on terrorist organisations and hate speech."

The most recent political developments in Guinea Bissau may put at risk the positive dynamics of reconstruction and democratic consolidation of the country observed so far. All the democratic forces and institutions in Guinea Bissau need to work together now to overcome differences and to ensure that the country's reconstruction continues peacefully and productively for the benefit of all citizens.
