A first in Singapore. EU workshop on Copernicus, the European Union Earth Observation Programme on Sept 21. The workshop will be chaired by Dr Philippe Brunet, Director for Space Policy, Copernicus and Defence at the European Commission and attended by a delegation from the European Earth Observation industry. Dr Brunet is available for interviews either before or during the workshop.

Every morning for almost 20 years, Fazilat Usvalieva, a 56-year-old housekeeper from the village of Gulistan in Uzbekistan’s Fergana region, would take a jerrycan and walk five kilometres to the nearest well to collect water.

On August 07-14 a training on “Harvest and Post-harvest fruit quality control/orchard fall works” were organized by EU funded Project “Sustainable Development in Rural Areas of Uzbekistan” in Namangan, Ferghana, Kashkadarya and Jizzakh regions.

С 7 по 14 августа 2018 года в рамках проекта «Устойчивое развитие сельской местности в Узбекистане», финансируемого Европейским Союзом, был организован тренинг по контролю качества фруктов в период сбора урожая, послеуборочной обработке и хранению в Джизакской, Наманганской, Ферганской и Кашкадарьинской областях. Основной целью проведения данного тренинга являлось обучение фермеров по таким темам, как определение правильного времени для сбора урожая, использование методов лечения плодов до сбора урожая с целью продления периода хранения и др.

More than 60,000 people including nearly 20,000 children in the Mt Hagen Central District, Western Highlands Province, are set to benefit from improved water, sanitation and hygiene (WaSH) services in the coming four years.

The improved WaSH services, to be delivered as part of a project jointly supported by the European Union (EU) and UNICEF in collaboration with the Government of Papua New Guinea, are expected to have significant positive impact on the productivity, health and well-being of beneficiaries.

The EU acknowledges that the Blue Pacific is about Pacific people across all the Pacific islands, recognising their needs and potential and their plans for their future. This will be at the core of the EU's partnership with the Pacific and therefore part of the renewed Agreement between the EU and the countries of the Africa, Caribbean and Pacific group of states, the negotiations of which will be launched in the next weeks. The EU is confident that this new partnership will be inclusive and anchored in the collective strength of the Pacific region.
