We had quite an intense Council meeting where we held an exchange with Martin Kobler on Libya after the conference in Rome yesterday, and registered unanimous support from all the EU Foreign Ministers to first of all the results of the Rome Conference with a clear engagement to keep the process before the signature, after the signature of the agreement open, to enlarge and to broaden the support for the agreement, and to keep a focus on the need to have a Libyan-led and a Libyan-owned process. 

Following the attacks on military bases last Friday, the security forces carried out operations this weekend which killed many people, including in summary executions. 

All these severe attacks must be thoroughly investigated so that the perpetrators can be identified and held to account.

Suite aux attaques contre des camps militaires vendredi dernier, des actions des forces de sécurité ont eu lieu ce week-end, entraînant la mort de nombreuses personnes, y compris par des  exécutions sommaires.  Toute la clarté doit être faite sur toutes ces attaques graves afin que leurs responsables puissent être identifiés et rendent compte de leurs actes.

The European Union extends its sincere condolences to the families and friends of the victims of yesterday's attack in Kabul. The attack on civilians claimed the lives of several victims, including two Spanish citizens.

The EU stands in solidarity with the Spanish and Afghan authorities and, together with the Afghan people, will continue in its fight against terrorism and for a peaceful and prosperous future of the country and its citizens.

L’Union européenne présente ses sincères condoléances aux familles et aux amis des victimes de l’attentat perpétré hier à Kaboul. Cet attentat contre des civils a coûté la vie à plusieurs personnes, dont deux citoyens espagnols.

 

L’UE est solidaire des autorités espagnoles et afghanes et continuera à lutter aux côtés du peuple afghan pour mettre fin au terrorisme et bâtir un avenir pacifique et prospère pour le pays et ses citoyens.
