The European Union jointly with the Government of Puntland launched the second phase of the Puntland Education Sector Support Programme. The Waxbarashadu Waa Iftiin (Education is Light) phase II programme launched today is implemented by a consortium of NGOs comprising CARE, Save the Children, ADRA and VU Amsterdam University, and in close coordination with the Ministry of Education, Puntland.

On 15 February 2016, the EU amended its integrated border management assistance mission in Libya (EUBAM Libya) to provide for a civilian planning capacity.

Les attaques terroristes les plus récentes au Nord du Mali, notamment à Kidal et près de Tombouctou, ont coûté la vie à des éléments de la force des Nations Unies MINUSMA et des forces armées Maliennes.


Des tels actes de violence, faisant suite à  une série d’attaques dans les derniers mois, visent à fragiliser la mise en œuvre de l’Accord de Paix signé le 20 juin 2015 et à empêcher le retour de la paix dans toutes les parties du Mali. Les auteurs de ces actes doivent être tenus responsables devant la justice.

The most recent terrorist attacks in northern Mali, in particular at Kidal and near Timbuktu, took the lives of members of the United Nations Integrated Stabilisation Mission in Mali (MINUSMA) and of the Malian armed forces.

Such acts of violence, the latest in a series of attacks over recent months, aim to undermine the implementation of the Peace Agreement signed on 20 June 2015 and to prevent the return of peace to all regions of Mali. The perpetrators of these acts must be brought to justice.

Meeting in Munich on February 11 & 12, 2016, as the International Syria Support Group (ISSG), the Arab League, China, Egypt, the EU, France, Germany, Iran, Iraq, Italy, Jordan, Lebanon, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, Oman, Qatar, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, United Arab Emirates, the United Kingdom, the United Nations, and the United States decided that humanitarian access will commence this week to besieged areas, and an ISSG task force will within one week elaborate modalities for a nationwide cessation of hostilities.
