Heads of state and government from the European Union, Latin America and the Caribbean will meet in Brussels on 10 and 11 June to discuss ways to deepen their ties.

Señoras y señores: es un honor y un placer estar aquí hoy para abrir la quinta edición de la Cumbre Empresarial UE-CELAC. Permítanme agradecer primero a los Comisarios Bieńkowska y Mimica el haber tomado la iniciativa en la organización de este evento, en estrecha colaboración con los representantes del sector empresarial de  Europa y de América Latina y el Caribe.

The European Union and the Republic of Tajikistan held their fourth Cooperation Committee meeting on 10 June 2015. The meeting was chaired by Mr Gunnar Wiegand, Director for Russia, Eastern Partnership, Central Asia Regional Cooperation and OSCE countries, European External Action Service, as the head of the EU delegation. The delegation of Tajikistan was led by Mr Saidrahmon Nazriev, First Deputy Minister for Economic Development and Trade of the Republic of Tajikistan.

La quatrième réunion du comité de coopération entre l’Union européenne (UE) et la République du Tadjikistan s’est déroulée le 10 juin 2015. La réunion était présidée par M. Gunnar Wiegand, directeur pour la Russie, le partenariat oriental, l’Asie centrale, la coopération régionale et les pays de l’OSCE au sein du Service européen pour l’action extérieure, en qualité de chef de la délégation de l’UE.

To respond quickly to the needs of the Syrian population in a way that is conducive to local governance, early recovery and stabilization, by directly engaging with reliable partners inside Syria to deliver basic services to the population and secondarily to support the local Turkish authorities’ efforts to decrease tensions between Syrian refugees and their Turkish host populations.

 

Two outstanding examples of the cooperation between the European Union and the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) were recognised today through the EU-LAC Awards. The award ceremony, chaired by the High Representative/Vice President Federica Mogherini and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ecuador, Ricardo Patiño, in presence of Benita Ferrero-Waldner, President of the EU-LAC Foundation, took place in Brussels at the eve of the EU-CELAC Summit which will take place on 10 and 11 June.
