The Delegation was established in 1979 as a Delegation of the European Commission. With the entry into force of the Lisbon Treaty, it became a European Union Delegation.

This commitment is rooted in the conviction that to respond successfully to global crises, challenges and threats, the international community needs an efficient multilateral system, founded on universal rights and values

The EU offers jobs to citizens in different ways, it also offers public contracts and provides funding in the form of grants to support projects and organisations.
