Sixty-eight years ago today, French foreign minister Robert Schuman proposed a joint authority to oversee French and German production of coal and steel, launching an ambitious and remarkable project which has shaped the course of European history and redefined Europe's place in the world.
This project – of peace, of partnership, of shared values and solidarity – is far from over.

The European Union and COMESA invest together 13.5 million EUR to support small scale cross-border traders in the region
On the 8th May 2018, the European Union (EU) and COMESA officially launched the COMESA Cross-Border Trade initiative at the Mwami/Mchinji border post. This is a new regional programme worth EUR 13.5 million (around ZMW 160 million) to facilitate small-scale trade flows across the borders in the region.
On 8 and 9 of May, the Macau Tower was illuminated in blue as part of the EU Day celebrations organised by the EU Office and the Global Tourism Economy Forum. The illumination ceremony was attend by the Acting Chief Executive and was followed by a dinner.
