The Council today adopted conclusions on the EU’s priorities in UN human rights fora in 2021. The conclusions reaffirm the EU’s commitment to respect, protect and fulfil human rights, democracy and the rule of law and to stand united in support of the UN human rights system as a cornerstone of its external action.
The Global Alliance on Circular Economy (GACERE) will bring together governments and relevant networks and organisations, to push forward a global impetus for initiatives related to the circular economy transition, resource efficiency and sustainable consumption and production.
Speaking at the 2021 Munich Security Conference on February 19, EU leaders welcomed America’s renewed global commitment at a critical time. European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen focused on climate change and digital transformation as major topics that could drive the EU-U.S. new global agenda. European Council President Charles Michel highlighted an alliance based on common values and views that enhances both partners’ ability to ensure peace and security, a "partnership powerhouse for a better world."
