On 14 October 2015, Fatemeh Salbehi was executed in Iran, after being sentenced to death for a crime committed in May 2010 when she was 17 years old.

Death penalty sentences for crimes committed by persons below the age of eighteen are contrary to Iran’s international obligations under the International Covenant for Civil and Political Rights and the Convention on the Rights of the Child.

La condamnation à la peine capitale pour des faits commis avant l'âge de 18 ans est contraire aux obligations internationales qui incombent à l'Iran en vertu du pacte international relatif aux droits civils et politiques et de la convention relative aux droits de l'enfant.


The 8th EU film Festival

The EUFF aims to promote the European cinema among Chinese audience, and to enhance the cooperation between Chinese and European film industries. The festival was held in Beijing, Chengdu, Shenzhen and Jinan, with presence also in a number of other cities through the holding of EU Panorama events at the Beijing, Shanghai and Xinning Film Festivals.

1. The seventh political dialogue meeting at ministerial level between the Republic of Cabo Verde (CV) and the European Union (EU), in the framework of CV-EU Special Partnership, was held in Luxembourg on 13 October 2015, under the co-chairing of His Excellency, Mr J. Tolentino, Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Cabo Verde, and His Excellency, Mr. J. Asselborn, Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, on behalf of Her Excellency, Ms. F.

Tomorrow, we will bring the work we have done on the external part of our strategy on refugees and migration on the European Council's table.  I have in these months, worked on different levels.  On one side, we have started the High level dialogues with the main countries of origin and transit. First of all North African ones, notably Niger, which is a key country.

Ahead of the European Council of 15 October, the Commission has put on the table a Communication describing the State of Play of the implementation of the priority actions under the European Agenda on Migration. This Communication to the European Council sets out the progress made on the operational measures, budgetary commitments and actions to implement EU law that were proposed by the Commission and endorsed by Heads of State and Government on 23 September.
