Ambassador of the European Union to the Republic of Korea Michael Reiterer delivered a keynote speech at the 2019 International Conference on Coal Phase-out and Climate Change held at Splas Resort, Deoksan in Chung-nam, Korea on 22 October.

In view of last week's election of 14 new Members States to the Human Rights Council for a three-year period as of 1 January 2020, the European Union expresses its strong concern over the human rights record of some of the elected countries.

In particular, the seriousness of the human rights violations in Venezuela, as reflected in the findings of the report of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights (HCHR) on the situation in the country and their impact on the population cannot be ignored.

The European Union Election Observation Mission (EU EOM) to Sri Lanka’s presidential election on 16 November was officially launched today. Chief Observer, Marisa Matias, a Member of the European Parliament from Portugal, said the election marked an important stage in the country's democratic process and hoped the presence of the mission in Sri Lanka would add to the transparency of the process.

NUR-SULTAN – The European Union (EU) renewed the project “European Union – Central Asia Water, Environment and Climate Change Cooperation” (WECOOP) in October 2019. It is the third phase of the project and the new phase is intended to run for three years.
