“The Presidential and House of Representatives Elections scheduled for 10 October 2017 are a crucial test for the democratic process in Liberia. The 36th session of the Human Rights Council (HRC) is taking place in Geneva from September 11th to September 29th. It has so far addressed a wide range of human rights violations worldwide and will continue to do so within the upcoming week. The discussions in the past week focused, among others, on the human rights situation in Syria, South Sudan, Myanmar and Burundi, as well as women's rights and the rights of indigenous peoples.
