The European Commission, through its Instrument contributing to Stability and Peace, has allocated €8.5 million to support Sri Lankan efforts to prevent violent extremism, build community resilience, and promote peace and tolerance.

The Western Balkans' film scene has been thriving in recent years, reaching audiences across the world and winning awards at major festivals. The EU supports the film industry and film events in the region, and this week sees the opening of one of these; the 25th edition of the Sarajevo Film Festival. Founded during the siege of Sarajevo, it is today a major celebration of film, but also a force for local economic growth.

The European Union has been represented in Papua New Guinea since 1977. The fight against climate change is one of the top priorities of the European Union, and it strongly supports a global and united approach for climate action that is reflected in its projects here in Papua New Guinea. In the framework of the second Climate Diplomacy Weeks to be held this year from 23 September to 06 October, the EU Delegation in PNG is organising a Bilum making & Film making competition for PNG youths in High School and University.
