I was pleased to meet today Kosovo's First Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Hashim Thaçi for the first time in my new capacity.

We had the opportunity to exchange views on Kosovo's progress. We agreed that, now that there is a new government in Pristina, work should resume at an intensified pace in the EU reform agenda so that good progress can be made in the next year, both in its internal development and in its EU path.

David Schwendiman from the United States has been nominated as the new Lead Prosecutor for the Special Investigative Task Force (SITF). The SITF was established by the European Union in 2011 as an independent criminal investigation into the serious allegations contained in the Council of Europe Parliamentary Assembly report of January 2011 by Senator Dick Marty entitled: “Inhuman treatment of people and illicit trafficking in human organs in Kosovo”.

Thank you very much. It is a pleasure to be here together with Commissioner Hahn. We came to Sarajevo for our first joint visit – not the last one, the next joint visit is in a couple of days. So, this is telling you something about the new way in which the new Commission started to work: hand in hand, close cooperation and coordinated approach.

On Friday 5 December, Federica Mogherini, High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy/Vice-President of the European Commission and Johannes Hahn, Commissioner for European Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations will visit Bosnia and Herzegovina.

During the visit they will meet leaders of BiH institutions, leaders of the political parties and members of the civil society to discuss reforms and the EU integration process of the country.
