The EU Facility for Refugees in Turkey was set up in 2015 in response to the European Council's call for significant additional funding to support Syrian refugees in Turkey.

The Council today adopted a set of conclusions concerning the implementation by the EU of the United Nations' 2030 Agenda on Sustainable Development, which was established in 2015 and comprises a set of 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Given the horizontal nature of the 2030 Agenda, its implementation requires a cross-policy approach by the EU and its member states. Earlier this year, the Commission published a reflection paper "Towards an ever more sustainable Union by 2030," to which the conclusions are a response.

The EU follows closely the preparations to amend the law on public prosecution to incorporate the functions of the Special Prosecution Office (SPO) as a part of the Public Prosecution Office.

The fundamental human rights to safe drinking water and sanitation apply to every human being and are fully recognised and backed by the EU in its diplomatic efforts and development policy.

Freedom, stability and a better standard of living are the main values, and expectations, that high school students usually link to the EU. Actor Driton Vejseli took part in the debate of Demir Hisar pupils with EU Ambassador Žbogar, saying that the popular TV sitcom where he stars shows that diversity is an asset that, combined with humour, can turn into a strong uniting factor. The discussion saw questions about benefits from EU membership, the Prespa Agreement and the reforms, but also about Brexit and - for the first time in this series of debates - the LGBTI rights in the country.

Equality is a core value of the European Union, and a principle we will keep fighting for. Equality between women and men is no exception.
