Are you a young graduate interested in international relations? Are you curious to learn more about work of a diplomatic mission and how the EU Delegation represents EU interests and values in the Republic of North Macedonia?

What we offer?

A traineeship up to 6 months within the Operations II Section of the EU Delegation to the Republic of North Macedonia, starting in mid-March onwards 2020, subject to budget availability.

The Operations II Section is dealing with assistance projects and policy advice/reporting in the following areas: Infrastructure and Transport, Environment, Agriculture and Rural development, Education, Employment & Social Policy.

Main tasks:

  • Contributing to regular reporting on the policy areas covered by the section;
  • Supporting the policy dialogue with all relevant ministries, agencies, donors and other relevant stakeholders in all areas of concern;
  • Assisting project managers in assistance related work ;
  • Assisting in various work related meetings;
  • Drafting 1-2 Terms of Reference (assisted by a colleague in the Section);
  • Assisting a colleague in the ex-ante control of tenders;
  • Monitoring ongoing projects, attending project steering committee meetings;
  • Attending both policy and assistance related events and providing minutes afterwards.

Qualifications or special requirements:

  • Since 3 different traineeships are offered at the Delegation of North Macedonia at the same time, candidates are allowed to apply to 1 traineeship only
  • Degree in Development aid, Technical studies (e.g. engineering), Social science, or equivalent

Important information

Before applying you are requested to examine the dedicated website as well as the general eligibility criteria for a paid traineeship (Article 8 of the Decision ADMIN(2017)28 – Paid traineeship)
Each selected trainee will receive a monthly grant to cover living expenses. All costs related to travel inside the country of residence, visa, insurance, accommodation must be borne by the trainee.
Applications from non-eligible candidates will not be considered. After the evaluation of all applications, shortlisted candidates will be contacted and invited for an interview. Unsuccessful candidates will be notified by email. In case the selected candidate is not able to present the required documents, his/her candidacy will be rejected.
