The Delegation of the European Union to Turkey reports on Turkey's foreign policy and represents the EU at diplomatic level.
The Delegation monitors economic, financial and trade developments in Turkey, as well as implementation of the EU-Turkey Customs Union. It also monitors Turkey's progress in meeting the requirements to join the EU and assists in the negotiating process.
In addition, the Delegation manages financial assistance from the EU to Turkey in support of Turkey’s reforms on its European path, and for helping Turkey addressing the challenges of the Syrian refugees crisis.
The Delegation works closely with the embassies of EU countries accredited to Turkey. It also maintains a wide range of contacts with Turkish public authorities, political parties, business organisations, academia and civil society.
To heighten visibility and foster understanding of the EU, the Delegation implements a comprehensive information and communication programme.
It is currently the EU's biggest single country delegation in the world, with a staff of over 120 people.
