Climate change is a threat that spares no country. The world is already witnessing multiple devastating impacts. The EU highlights the urgency to step up global efforts in response to climate change, in the context of sustainable development and efforts to eradicate poverty, in line with the implementation of the Agenda 2030 and the Paris Agreement. The EU also recognises the strong calls by the civil society and citizens, especially youth, for enhanced action, ambition and considerations for future generations.
On 27 September, the EU in partnership with Caucasus University (CU), the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, and CENN organised a “Talking Climate” public forum which brought together 300 young participants, field experts, representatives of the Government of Georgia and NGO sector.
Two important summits took place in the margins of UNGA this week - The UN Climate Action Summit and the UN Summit on Sustainable Development Goals - where the EU expressed its strong commitment on accomplishing the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development towards a peaceful and prosperous world, with human well-being on a healthy planet at its core.
