Building a common area of shared democracy, prosperity, stability and increased cooperation with in its neighbourhood is a top priority for the EU. To this end the EU has built a close partnership with six countries to its East, with both bilateral and multilateral dimensions. Cooperative relations with Russia, the EU’s largest neighbour and a key regional and global player, are also critical for the EU.
71 years later, the full implementation of the Declaration is still far from becoming a reality. Now, it is time for the youngest generations to pick up the baton.
NUR-SULTAN – Today the Kazakh capital hosted the presentation of the so-called "Letter from Nur-Sultan". The event organized by the European Union Delegation to Kazakhstan in cooperation with the Carnegie Europe Center provided a unique opportunity to discuss the key issues of the EU-Kazakhstan and the EU-Central Asia relations. The "Letter from Nur-Sultan" is part of the Capitals Series by the Carnegie Europe and is the first such publication on the Central Asian region. The Letter itself was prepared by a well-known Kazakhstani expert, political scientist, Chief Research Fellow of the Kazakhstan Institute for Strategic Studies under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Dr Murat Laumulin.

On 1 December, Josep Borrell assumed the post of EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the European Commission.
Today, the EU will light up its headquarters in Brussels to show its support for eradicating an alarming problem that is still too common. One in three women in Europe has experienced physical and/or sexual violence.
