EU Special Representative for CA and Special Envoy for Afghanistan visit Termez

On 1-5 April, EU Special Representative for CA P. Burian and Special Envoy for Afghanistan R. Kobia visit Termez to familiarize with concrete projects implemented by Uzbekistan in support of the stabilization process in Afghanistan in order to consider opportunities for possible trilateral cooperation in the future.

On 1-5 April, EU Special Representative for CA P. Burian and Special Envoy for Afganistan R. Kobia together with International Cooperation and Development Programm of EU (DEVCO) visit Termez to familiarize with the Afghan educational centre and to see crossing border with Afghanistan, the railway and the other infrastructure built and operated by Uzbekistan in Afghanistan.

The aim of the visit is familiarization with the activities under the Multi-Partner Trust Fund for Aral sea, which will facilitate the decision-making concerning possible contribution of the EU to the Fund, as well as discussing possible cooperation in the areas of education, social development and connectivity in support of further peace and stabilization in Afghanistan.

After the visit to Termez Education Center for Afghans, R. Kobia stressed that peace will need skilled labour for reconstruction. Peace is being prepared. EU keen to help.
