The coronavirus pandemic is a global crisis that requires a global solution. The EU is mobilising EUR 36 billion globally to end the spread of the virus and reduce its impact on economic and social stability in partner countries. The EU, its Members States and their financial institutions have also combined their resources to support India in the ongoing COVID-19 crisis.
The European Commission joins Leaders from Member States, civil society, women’s rights organizations, international organizations, UN agencies, philanthropic entities, youth-led organizations, and the private sector come together to deliver game-changing results for women and girls on the basis of the visionary agenda of the Generation Equality Forum.
Oceans have a major role in our everyday life. They are the lungs of our planet, providing most of the oxygen we breathe. Oceans are a major source of food and medicine and a critical part of the biosphere. Healthy oceans are a prerequisite for our own health and for that of our planet. The new EU Biodiversity Strategy therefore puts a strong emphasis on the protection of the ocean. On World Oceans Day we mark the importance of the ocean and celebrate together both its wealth and its beauty.
