European Union and Sudan discuss Strategic Political Dialogue

A delegation of the European Union (EU), headed by the Deputy Ambassador and joined by the Italian Ambassador, Deputy Ambassador of Netherlands and the Swedish Charge d’Affaires has met H.E. Mr. Omer Gamar-Eddin, the acting Minister of Foreign Affairs.

The meeting discussed ways and means of cooperation between Sudan and the EU and joint coordination at the international forums. The two sides also discussed mapping out of a plan for the start of the strategic political dialogue between them.

The acting Minister of Foreign Affairs expressed the readiness of Sudan working with the European Union pointing out that Sudan looks forward for a partnership with the EU in the rehabilitation of areas that had been affected by the war and boosting peaceful coexistence to ensure implementation of the peace agreement that was signed between the transitional government and the movements of armed struggle by addressing the root-causes of the conflict.

Meanwhile, Mr. Daniel Weiss, the Deputy Ambassador of Delegation of the European Union introduced the main points of a possible new strategy of the EU for the Horn of Africa: its priorities will possibly include the Red Sea, democratic transitions in the regional, boosting regional security around Somalia and post-COVID 19 pandemic recovery.
