EU Ambassador, DEVCO officials visit Aden

The Head of the EU Delegation to Yemen Antonia-Calvo Puerta, jointly with members of the EU Development and Cooperation team, visited Aden from 11 to 14 February to discuss EU-funded development cooperation. The visit underscores EU support for Yemen and its people, encouraging the government to take action to support economic development and improve livelihood of Yemenis.

The EU mission met with H.E. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, Ministers of Social Affairs and Labor, Planning and International Cooperation, Public Health and Population, Education, the Governor of Aden Ahmed Salem as well as other government officials to discuss present and future projects in the country. Further, meetings took place with implementing partners and representatives of UN agencies, CSOs and INGOs. The EU mission also took the chance to meet with beneficiaries of the Enhanced Rural Resilience in Yemen (ERRY) programme and visited the National Museum which is one of the selected sites under the EU-funded UNESCO rehabilitation project.

The ongoing conflict affects the lives of millions of Yemenis. The EU stands with Yemeni people and remains committed to support humanitarian and development actions. Therein, the EU reiterates its firm support to the UN-led peace process and the implementation of the Stockholm Agreement to reach a sustainable political settlement to end the crisis in Yemen.
