Equitable Access to Quality Education for all is a priority for the EU in Sierra Leone.

Equitable access to quality education for all is a priority for the EU in Sierra Leone.

Education is a human right, a public good and a public responsibility. Without inclusive and equitable quality education and lifelong opportunities for all, countries will not succeed in achieving gender equality and breaking the cycle of poverty that is leaving millions of children, youth and adults behind.

As the world marks the first International Day of Education, the European Union Sierra Leone is pleased to present its project 'Support to the Education Sector in Sierra Leone' which since 2016 is supporting the national Institutions to strengthen system governance, improve quality of teaching and learning particularly at primary level, promote equitable access to Junior Secondary Schools for boys and girls and improve management of technical and vocational education.

By proclaiming the International Education Day, UNESCO – United Nation Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation - calls on government and all partners to make universal quality education a leading priority.
