EUTM Mozambique dots the i's and crosses the t's

 

EUTM Mozambique continues its effort to train the Forças Armadas de Defesa de Moçambique (FADM) to combat terrorism in Cabo Delgado.

 

At the Quick Reaction Force Training Camp in Katembe, the EUTM Mozambique trainers coordinated a Tactical Exercise for the Quick Reaction Force (QRF) focused in Command Post Exercises and Offensive, Defensive and Enabling Operations.  With this training the QRF will be better prepared when deploying to Cabo Delgado.

Meanwhile, at the Mavalene Training Center,  the initial assessment and selection process of new candidates to become Forward Air Controllers was conducted. This Mozambican led selection was supported by EUTM Mozambique trainers. The aim being to integrate the ones who pass the test and the following training in the Mozambique Air Force as  Tactical Air Control Party.The process is designed to assess candidates physical condition and general level of knowledge in the areas of topography and land navigation, skills with arms, combat tactics and movements and at the end with a reasoning test. All necessary for their futur important work.

 

EUTM Mozambique

 

The primary task of the mission is to support a more efficient and effective response by the Mozambican armed forces to the crisis in Cabo Delgado in compliance with human rights law and international humanitarian law.

EUTM Mozambique supports the capacity building of the units of the Mozambican armed forces selected to compose a future QRF, in order for them to develop the necessary and sustainable capacities to restore safety and security in Cabo Delgado.

To this end, the mission will contribute to support the capacity building of the units of the Mozambican armed forces in particular the following areas:

  • military training including operational preparation;
  • specialised training, including on counterterrorism;
  • training and education on the protection of civilians and compliance with international humanitarian law and human rights law;
  • promotion of the agenda Women, Peace and Security.

EUTM Mozambique will train eleven companies: five companies of Mozambique navy marines in Katembe, and six companies of Army special forces, in Chimoio.
