The European Union has since 2017, dedicated a significant portion of its human rights budget towards supporting the Government efforts at defending and protecting the rights of Persons with Albinism in Malawi who remain amongst the most marginalized communities in the country.

European Union has donated assorted equipment used by the election observation mission in the just ended general elections, to eight Civil Society Organizations (CSOs).

The Ambassador of the European Union to the Republic of Malawi, His Excellency Daniel Aristi Gaztelumendi, presented his Letters of Credence to the President of the Republic of Malawi, His Excellency Dr. Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera, on 15 September 2025, at Kamuzu Palace, in Lilongwe.
