Schengen Visa

With a Schengen visa, you may enter any EU country and travel freely throughout the Schengen zone. There are currently 26 European countries in the Schengen Area, 22 of which are member states of the European Union. These 26 countries share a common visa policy, meaning that there are no checks on the borders between them.

The 26 "Schengen States" are: Austria, Belgium, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain and Sweden – plus the four associated countries Norway, Iceland, Switzerland and Liechtenstein.

Please note that the Delegation of the European Union does not issue visas or provide visa advice. Please contact the embassy of the country that you first wish to travel to for further information.

Testimony from Erasmus Mundus Awardee

Thipasong Akhamountry is doing her two-year Erasmus Mundus Joint Masters Degree (EMJMD) program

"It’s been one of my most enlightening experiences so far. This scholarship is unique in that it allows me to study in multiple countries in Europe and being abroad means constantly learning, adapting, and meeting fellow students from different cultures. All of my classes contribute to my understanding of the world and its interconnectedness. My lecturers have been very supportive, and my university’s systems and facilities are terrific.

However, moving to another country during the COVID-19 pandemic can be more complicated and challenging for international students like myself. Probably the most pressing issue is how we manage our health, lives, and studies. Because of this, I think that self-care is very important. It is a good time to prioritize your physical and mental well-being while staying connected with friends and family."
