The 18th session of the EU-NGO Forum on Human Rights is taking place on 1-2 December in Brussels under the title "United against all forms of Torture: Applying a cross-cutting perspective to prevent, prohibit, and redress torture globally".
The Forum is organised by the EEAS and the European Commission, together with the Human Rights and Democracy Network (HRDN), the Brussels based network of NGOs operating in the areas of human rights and democracy.
The Forum addresses torture and ill-treatment from a cross-cutting perspective, exploring how these issues are linked to almost all other major human rights challenges e.g. freedom of expression, freedom of peaceful assembly, and rights of vulnerable groups such as LGBTI people, human rights defenders or migrants.
In this spirit, the discussion will focus on:
• Most vulnerable groups
• Accountability and the fight against impunity.
• Torture and ill-treatment as explicitly related to today’s foreign and domestic security policy agenda
The High Representative Federica Mogherini will address the Forum on the 2 December.
