Women are not only victims of conflict, they also play an important role in peacebuilding. International partners support the Iraqi authorities in their quest to strengthen the role of women in a society recovering from armed conflict.

EULEX recently handed vehicles and forensics equipment to the Kosovo Police Forensics Directorate in Pristina. The recent equipment donation is part of the Mission's wider support programme for partners in Kosovo which, last year, amounted to a worth of over €1million.

The civilian EU Monitoring Mission in Georgia helped the demining NGO ‘HALO Trust’ locate unexploded bombs from an aircraft downed during the 2008 conflict. The bombs have now been destroyed and no longer pose a threat to the inhabitants.
