On 17 June 2019, the Council adopted conclusions on a new EU strategy on Central Asia, adapting the EU policy to new opportunities which have emerged in the region.

The Council reiterates that cooperation through effective multilateralism remains the best way to advance national as well as collective interests. The EU aims at an effective multilateral system that delivers results in tackling today's and tomorrow's global challenges.

Over the past six months the people of Sudan, with the strong participation of women and youth, have clearly and bravely demanded a new path for their country, one of democracy, political plurality, security and prosperity. This represents a historic opportunity for Sudan. A peaceful, united, democratic and prosperous Sudan remains crucial, including for the peace and stability of the region, and is a priority for the European Union.

On 17 June 2019 the Council adopted conclusions on the EU’s engagement to the Black Sea regional cooperation.

This year's European Development Days theme is ‘Addressing inequalities: building a world which leaves no one behind'. It will debate successes and failures in addressing inequalities in the context of the 2030 Agenda and the implementation of the SDGs.

EU foreign and defence ministers today discussed the EU Global Strategy. Following the discussion, the Council adopted conclusions on security and defence in the context of the EU Global Strategy.

On 17 June 2019 the Council adopted conclusions approving EU human rights guidelines on safe drinking water and sanitation.

Today, the Council decided to revoke the framework for restrictive measures against the Maldives that it adopted on 16 July 2018.
