On 9 December, the European Union remembers the victims of genocides, across the world, and throughout history. 

We must never forget the atrocities of the past. We owe it to the victims of these crimes against humanity. We also owe it to ourselves: we can only build a better future if we acknowledge the dark days of the past. It is a moral obligation towards humanity. 

Climate change is a global threat with serious implications for peace and security. Working together through multilateralism and international cooperation is the only way to address the ever growing complex intricacies between climate change and conflict. The High Representative of the European Union, Josep Borrell, is committed to ensuring that the European Union plays a leading role in the global fight against climate change.

The EU and its Member States reiterate their support for the work done by the Mission to Support the Fight Against Corruption and Impunity in Honduras (MACCIH), which since its creation in 2016 at the invitation of the Honduran government, has been making a significant contribution to the prevention and fight against corruption and impunity in Honduras and to the strengthening of the Rule of Law in the country. The European Union and its Member States are among the most important donors to MACCIH.

The High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy/Vice-President of the European Commission, Josep Borrell, met today with the acting Foreign Minister of Albania, Gent Cakaj, on the margins of the 26th OSCE Ministerial Council in Bratislava.

 

The annual Human Resources Report summarises the main achievements, policies implemented and important developments in the area of human resources and administration, both at Headquarters and in Delegations. It also provides detailed statistics on the EEAS population per category, gender, age and nationality.

The High Representative and Minister Cavuşoğlu discussed the recent developments in EU-Turkey relations and exchanged views on several regional issues notably Syria, Libya, the Eastern Mediterranean and Iraq.

They discussed the situation in eastern Ukraine ahead of the Normandy format summit in Paris on 9 December. The High Representative stressed that the full implementation of the Minsk agreements is crucial.
