The Delegation to Sri Lanka and the Maldives is looking for an agent for a temporary assignment to replace a staff member on maternity leave in the Cooperation section.

The duration of the assignment will be a minimum of 20 weeks (possibly extendable by another month). The proposed starting date is 01/08/2021.

 

The tasks of the assignment will be as follows:

-to manage projects in the area of agriculture, rural development and green recovery;

-to participate in policy and related technical discussions in the areas listed above;

-to lead or assist in the promotion of communications and visibility related activities of the cooperation section;

-to carry out procurement procedures in the areas mentioned above;

-to carry out any other assignment as instructed by the Head of Cooperation.

 

Required experience:

-University degree with a minimum of bachelor level

-Experience in an agency dealing with project management in the field of development policy or similar

-Experience or knowledge in the fields of agriculture and/or communication would be an asset

-Very good knowledge of English (oral and in writing). Knowledge of Sinhala and/or Tamil would be an additional asset.

The place of employment is Colombo. This is a local agent post, classified in the function group 1, with limited duration.

The procedure

After the deadline for applications, the applications will be reviewed by a Selection Committee set up for this purpose. The Selection Committee will prepare a short-list of candidates who are considered to be the most suitable for the post on the basis of a preliminary assessment of the information provided in their application letter and the supporting documents. The short-listed candidates will be invited to an interview during which the Selection Committee will assess the suitability of the candidates for the post.

The candidates who have not been short-listed will not be contacted individually; however, the Delegation will publish on its website that the recruitment procedure has been completed and that a candidate has (or has not) been recruited.
