Press Release: High Representative Federica Mogherini announces senior appointments

Brussels, 20 July 2016 – Federica Mogherini, High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy/Vice President of the Commission, announced today the appointment of 17 new Heads of EU Delegations in the framework of the regular rotation for this year.

Ranieri SABATUCCI has been appointed as Head of the EU Delegation to the African Union. He is currently serving Head of Division for relations with South East Asia and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) within the EEAS.

John O'ROURKE has been appointed as Head of the EU Delegation to Algeria. He is currently serving as Head of Division for GCC (Gulf Cooperation Council) countries, Iraq and Yemen.

Leon DE LA TORRE KRAIS has been appointed as Head of the EU Delegation to Bolivia. He is currently serving as Deputy Head of Mission within the Spanish Embassy to Belgium.

Styliani ZERVOUDAKI has been appointed as Head of the EU Delegation to Chile. She is currently serving as Head of the EU Delegation to Guatemala.

Adam KULACH has been appointed as Head of the EU Delegation to Djibouti. He is currently serving as Head of the EU Delegation to Saudi Arabia.

Marianne VAN STEEN has been appointed as Head of the EU Delegation to Ecuador. She is currently serving as Deputy Head of Division for Human Resources Policy and Coordination within the EEAS.

Samuel ŽBOGAR has been appointed as Head of the EU Delegation to the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia. He is currently serving as Head of the EU Office in Kosovo/European Union Special Representative in Kosovo.

Carmen CANO DE LASALA has been appointed as Head of the EU Office to Hong Kong and Macao. She is currently serving as Deputy Head of the EU Delegation to China and Mongolia.

Natalya APOSTOLOVA has been appointed as Head of the EU Office in Kosovo. She is currently serving as Head of the EU Delegation to Libya.

Aivo ORAV has been appointed as Head of the EU Delegation to Montenegro. He is currently serving as Head of the EU Delegation to the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia.

Bernard SAVAGE has been appointed as Head of the EU Delegation to New Zealand. He is currently serving as Head of Division for Maghreb within the EEAS.

Michael MATTHIESSEN has been appointed as Head of the EU Delegation to Switzerland and to Liechtenstein. He is currently serving as Principal Adviser to the Managing Director for Asia-Pacific within the EEAS.

Patrice BERGAMINI has been appointed as Head of the EU Delegation to Tunisia. He is currently serving as Head of Division for Regional Policies for the Southern Mediterranean within the EEAS.

Hugues MINGARELLI has been appointed as Head of the EU Delegation to Ukraine. He is currently serving as Senior Adviser on Global Strategy and European Neighbourhood Policy (ENP) Review Implementation within the EEAS.

Jan TOMBINSKI has been appointed as Head of the EU Delegation to the Holy See, to the UN Organizations in Rome and to the Republic of San Marino. He is currently serving as Head of the EU Delegation to Ukraine.

Eduards STIPRAIS has been appointed as Head of the EU Delegation to Uzbekistan. He is currently serving as Under-Secretary of State/Political Director with the Latvian Foreign Ministry.

Antonia CALVO PUERTA has been appointed as Head of the EU Delegation to Yemen. She is currently serving as Deputy Head of Division for Regional Policies for the Southern Mediterranean within the EEAS.
