EEAS celebrates 10th aniversary

The launch of the EEAS on 1 January 2011 was a major step in the European integration process and in developing a common foreign policy.

In the decade that has followed, the EEAS – with all Delegations, missions and operations – has become an appreciated and acclaimed partner to all our interlocutors around the globe. We are the face of the EU in the world, working towards peace and security in a true team spirit. The past years have seen major and unprecedented shifts in international politics and the EEAS more than ever needs to prove its added value as a diplomatic service. We, like all other players, have to adapt to a world “order” that looks increasingly out of balance. Against this backdrop, the 10th Anniversary also offers an opportunity to look back at lessons learned – lessons that will provide guidance for the 10 years ahead.

The #EEAS10 campaign kicked off on 1 December with a livestreamed online debate on “The EU in a changing world – Staying on course in troubled waters” and will continue with a series of activities in headquarters and Delegations.

Participate in our events and find out how European foreign policy makes a difference every day!

“The EEAS is called a service for a reason. It is a privilege to serve the EU and its citizens and to help create a better world. To work for Europe, worldwide.” - Josep Borrell

Photo exhibition: EU Foreign Policy in Action

This photo exhibition showcases some significant moments that have shaped European Union Foreign Policy around the world.

Thanks to the work of our 143 European Union Delegations and 17 Missions and Operations on the ground, the EU acts every day in many different countries and plays a vital role in promoting its values and principles.

Enjoy these striking images of our actions around the world!

The pictures have been collected in a book entitled "EU Foreign Policy in action – 10 years of EU Diplomacy around the world". This publication zooms in on the diversity of the work accomplished by the EU Delegations, Missions and Operations, giving a sample of what the EU does in the field, and how EU foreign policy is put in action around the world.
