The Food Fortification project is a joint initiative of the EU Delegation and the Ministry of Health, and is implemented by the Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT).

The EU Delegation to Kenya has been supporting Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) in partnership with the Ministry of Health (MoH) to strengthen the Food Fortification Programme in Kenya. The EU funded project has built and equipped a state of the art laboratory to help in monitoring compliance of standards of food fortification in the country.

The EU mission led by Ms Myra Bernardi, the head of Agriculture, Job Creation and Resilience and accompanied by Mr. Titus Katembu visited JKUAT to monitor the status of the Food Fortification project and paid a courtesy call to the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Victoria Ngumi and the Chairman of the University Council, Amb. (Eng.) Mahboub M. Maalim.

The EU Delegation mission was impressed by the performance of the project and in particular the capacity development of PhD and MSc students happening in the food fortification laboratory.
