Annual Zambia-EU Political Dialogue Meeting

The official Annual Zambia-EU Political Dialogue Meeting took place on 17 November 2020 in Lusaka in an open and conducive atmosphere. Co-chaired by the Ambassador of the European Union, H.E. Jacek Jankowski, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hon. Joseph Malanji, the half-day meeting allowed for a frank and fruitful exchange on pertinent issues of mutual concern, including the Zambian 2021 elections, the economic situation and public finance management, climate change, the COVID-19 pandemic, peace and security, governance and human rights, trade and investment as well EU-Zambia development relations.

 

Hon. Minister Malanji led the Zambian government delegation composed of 10 Cabinet Ministers (Minister of Justice, Hon. Given Lubinda; Minister of Home Affairs, Hon. Steven Kampyongo; Minister of Commerce, Trade and Industry, Hon. Christopher Bwalya Yaluma; Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, Hon. Jean Kapata; Minister of Health, Hon. Chitalu Chilufya; Minister of Labour and Social Security, Hon. Joyce Nonde-Simukoko; Minister of Gender, Hon. Elizabeth Phiri; Minister of Information and Broadcasting Services, Hon. Dora Siliya and Minister of Energy, Hon. Matthew Nkhuwa) as well as senior Government officials from various Ministries and public institutions.

The European Union was represented by H.E. Jankowski and the Ambassadors of the seven EU Member States resident in Zambia.
