The program provides a unique window of opportunity to strengthen Bangladesh’s PFM systems and institutions through supporting the implementation of PFM Action Plan (2018-23). The objective and activities of the program is highly relevant to the government’s strategic priorities and goals. It is contributing to a more efficient public expenditure management system with increased transparency and accountability to citizens, which will ultimately lead to the goal of an “Effective Public Expenditure Management System”.

Objectives

Outcome (Specific Objectives) and Outputs (Expected results)

 

The overall objective is to deliver an effective Public Expenditure Management system that facilitates the delivery of better public services to improve the lives of the people of Bangladesh. The programme is delivered under a World Bank-administered Multi-Donor Trust Fund (MDTF).

The current specific objectives are: a) support immediate advisory and technical assistance needs of the Finance Division relating to iBAS++ roll-out and BACS implementation; (b) support the Government of Bangladesh (GoB) in finalizing a PFM Action Plan and related Change Management for the implementation of the PFM Strategy.; and (c) supplement implementation of the PFM Action Plan with high quality advice, technical assistance, and knowledge exchange.
