The European External Action Service (EEAS) supports the work of the High Representative in defining and implementing an effective and coherent EU foreign policy. The EEAS supports his tasks of conducting the EU's Common Foreign and Security Policy and chairing the Foreign Affairs Council. It also supports the High Representative in his capacity as Vice President of the Commission with regard to his responsibilities within the Commission in the external relations field including the coordination of other aspects of the EU's external action. The EEAS works in close cooperation with Member States, the Council and relevant services of the European Commission.
The Digital Solutions Division comprises several sections dealing with budget and
administration, ICT infrastructure support and Information Systems (IS) development.
Apart from different activities the Infrastructure and Support Sector is in charge of the ICT security as well. A dedicated IT Security Team exists with various responsibilities in the IT Security domain such as:
EEAS BA.BS.3 Digital Solutions Division offers a job opportunity as IT Security Officer in the IT Security Team. The successful candidate’s first and most important responsibility is related to the new EU Restricted system including the following activities:
Apart from the main responsibilities, the successful candidate will also have an active role in various activities within the IT Security team depending on the ongoing activities/projects of the division where contribution is required from the Team.
The vacancy is to be filled in accordance with the conditions stipulated under the Conditions of Employment of Other Servants of the European Union (CEOS).1
Successful candidate will be offered a contract agent position (Function group IV); renewable contract for a maximum duration of 6 years (with a valid CAST exam).
Candidates for this contract agent IV post should:
- have experience in the management/design/operation of systems handling classified
- be familiar with the legal requirements and the processes of security accreditation of
systems handling EUCI
- have a very good overall understanding of secure IT infrastructure design principles
- be able to work independently
- have ability to maintain diplomatic relations and to ensure representation and
communication in a complex, multicultural environment;
- have capacity to create constructive working relations in the field of external relations
with national authorities, international organisations and EU Member States;
- have strong drafting and analytical skills combined with sound judgement;
- have knowledge of external relations, internal policies and functioning of the Union;
- have excellent communication skills and the ability to establish and maintain a
network of contacts both within and outside the EEAS;
- have the ability to communicate clearly on complex issues and the capacity to perform
with accuracy and in a flexible manner a diversity of tasks in a complex institutional
- have strong service attitude;
- be fluent in English, French is an asset
- be a flexible team player.

The signature of the contract will be subject to prior favourable opinion of the Medical Service.
The successful candidates will be required to undergo security vetting if they do not already
