Michael Reiterer, Ambassador of the European Union (EU) to the Republic of Korea (RoK) was received by the National Assembly Speaker Park Byeong-seug at the Speaker's office on Friday, 31 July. Speaker Park expressed his appreciation for the EU Ambassador's contribution to the EU-RoK relations. During the meeting, Park said he is grateful for the EU's consistent support for the denuclearisation of the Korean Peninsula and the improvement of inter-Korean relations.
"I have officially proposed inter-Korean parliamentary talks on the national Constitution Day. I hope that the EU will also play a role," said the Speaker. EU Ambassador replied that the EU expects the DPRK to respond to the dialogue and hopes the EU will support the inter-Korean parliamentary meeting.
In addition, Speaker Park and Ambassador Reiterer pinned hopes on further EU-RoK cooperation in developing COVID-19 vaccines and treatments.
