As part of the activities of the Korea-EU CSO Network (KEN), Professor Changrok Soh, President of Human Asia and Director of the International Human Rights Centre at Korea University discussed the ICT technology and human rights issues in the face of the COVID-19 crisis. The RoK is known for its successful prevention of COVID-19. Efficient medical care and treatment, excellent IT technology and people's solidarity in the crisis, are cited as the key to success of its quarantine efforts. At the same time, human rights and discrimination issues in responding to COVID-19 must be addressed. Professor Soh, who has gone through the quarantine measures as a COVID-19 confirmed patient, tells us about the issues of privacy violations, controversy over the use of the electronic wristband, effects of social stigma, and describes some of the discrimination that still happens in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.
