On 8 May, the High Representative/Vice-President Josep Borrell will deliver a speech at a UN Security Council Arria-Formula meeting on the 75th anniversary of the end of the Second World War on European soil. This debate will offer an opportunity not only to discuss lessons learned from the past, but also to evaluate current security threats posed by conflicts around the world.
The High Representative/Vice-President will deliver his statement at around 16:00, Brussels time (10:00, New York time). This meeting brings together high-level participants, including Foreign Ministers from across the world, and is organised by Estonia, which holds the rotating presidency of the Security Council in May 2020.
